UA sets up new hot line for ethics, illegal behavior

The University of Arizona is setting up an anonymous hot line to take reports of unethical or illegal behavior.
UA will begin its around-the-clock Ethics and Compliance Hotline on July 1. The toll-free number is (886) 364-1098.

In a campus memo this week, UA President Robert N. Shelton said employees, students and visitors can report fraud, hate crimes, waste, abuse and other noncompliance activities.

Reports will be forwarded to the appropriate division and, in special or significant cases, to Shelton's office. Criminal reports go to the University of Arizona Police Department.

The hot line is not for emergencies. UA has several other tip lines for reporting incidents that include hazing, campus crime and hazards.
"The hot line is yet another element and shows sincerity of the university in wanting to know what's going on," said Julius Parker Jr., associate vice president for business affairs.
