CHICO -- California State University, Chico, has kicked out the Beta Theta Pi fraternity following an investigation into hazing, school officials confirmed Tuesday.
"We got a tip earlier in the spring that some initiation-type stuff was going on at the fraternity that could qualify as hazing," said campus spokesman Joe Wills. "It felt like it was under duress by some people."
Administrators revoked the fraternity's charter earlier this month. The school turned the matter over to police and prosecutors, but no further action has been taken against members of the 60-student fraternity.
No one was injured, Wills said.
