In Compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, the Punjab Government has asked the departments of Education, Technical Education and Medical Education to immediately tackle the problem of ragging in the state educational institutions.
Stating this here today, Mr. R.I. Singh, Chief Secretary Punjab said that the Secretaries of these departments, have already been asked to ensure prompt implementation of the Court orders in both letter and spirit. He also urged the officers concerned to constitute anti-ragging committees and squads and closely monitor the functioning of these committees. The Chief Secretary suggested incorporating the relevant provisions of the court directions regarding ragging in the prospectus to be issued for admission by the educational institutions. Subject relating to ragging may also be included in the educational curriculum, he added.
