June 23, 2007

Kanpur:
Students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Kanpur will have to sign a 'Declaration' which will prevent them from indulging in any type of ragging activities.
The Declaration would mean serious punishment - from registration of a police case to rustication if a student is found indulging in any type of ragging activity at the institute or even outside the premises.
Furthermore, the institute has also asked all parents to sign an undertaking saying that if their wards are found to be involved in such activities, they would accept the punishment as prescribed by the institute.
The new rule will be applicable to both freshers and senior students of the institute.
