Day 1 of admissions in DU passes by smoothly

Day 1 of admissions in DU passes by smoothly
June 28, 2007
New Delhi: Daring the hot and humid weather of the capital, admission seekers of Delhi University (DU) gathered at different colleges on Wednesday to check if they had qualified for admission.
The first day of admissions for this academic year starting July 16th saw a huge rush in almost all colleges. Seats for popular courses like Economics, B.Com (H) and BA Programme have already been filled in a majority of the colleges. However, the turnout for science courses was below the average.
Most of the students reached the colleges much before the scheduled time to submit their forms. Only after filling the forms and subsequent verification by the officials, students and their parents breathed a sigh of relief.
In some colleges, candidates had to sign an anti-ragging declaration form to ensure that they do not indulge in any type of ragging activities. Officials at different colleges verified the documents of students at least twice before sending them to the cash counter.
The chances of a second cut-off list for popular courses like Economics, B.Com and BA in the top colleges of the varsity appear slim as most of the seats for these subjects were filled on the first day of the admission. However, the second list for Science courses will see a dip of 1-3%.
